We are seeking a Data Testing Specialist to play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of data transformations and processes within the dbt framework. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, focusing on implementing Shift-Left Testing strategies and optimizing testing practices to enhance project delivery.

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Shift-Left Testing Implementation:
   • Lead the implementation of Shift-Left testing in the dbt ecosystem.
   • Engage early in the requirements gathering process to contribute to Data Mapping and Data Modelling documents.
2. Collaboration and Test Coverage:
   • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Data Modellers, Developers, and End Users to derive comprehensive test coverage and scenarios.
   • Understand technical goals and end-user needs to design appropriate test suites.
3. Automated Test Development:
   • Build and optimize automated test suites in the dbt framework, including both in-built assertions and custom test cases.
   • Continuously review automated test suites for gaps, redundancies, and traceability to requirements.
4. Manual and Exploratory Testing:
   • Execute integration, negative, failover, and exception handling test cases not covered by automated tests.
   • Perform exploratory testing as needed.
5. Quality Assurance:
   • Validate the efficiency of automated test designs and outputs, ensuring high-quality code development.
   • Provide feedback to developers on slow-running queries or inefficient transformations for optimization.
6. UAT and Deployment Support:
   • Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Business Acceptance Testing (BAT) phases.
   • Contribute to the rollout of dbt and UAT implementation across multiple projects.
7. Post-Deployment Monitoring:
   • Suggest monitoring metrics or threshold alerts based on user feedback to ensure data quality in production.
8. Documentation and Test Planning:
   • Analyze and review Data Mapping, HLD, and LLDs to identify gaps.
   • Develop and document test plans and approaches for efficient release delivery.

Requirements:

• Location: Must be based in Portugal, preferably Lisbon.
• Language Skills: Proficiency in English (B2+/C1).
• Strong expertise in testing within the dbt framework, including automation and manual testing practices.
• Experience in data mapping, data modeling, and SQL-based validation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Work Mode: Hybrid (Lisbon-based projects)
